According to Andrew Gross via Twitter, the New York Rangers have re-signed restricted free agent forward Brian Boyle to a 3-year deal. No word on the money amount just yet.
Boyle recorded 21 goals and 14 assists in his breakout season last year with the Blurshirts. I think Boyle's value to the team certainly grew last year and he's become an important role player for the club. However, I think many would have preferred he had signed a one-year deal so he could prove he could score consistently two season in-a-row. A three-year deal will come back to bite the Rangers if Boyle turns out to be a one-year wonder, but hopefully that won't be the case.
UPDATE: Boyle's cap hit equates to $1.7 million per year.
