The New York Rangers have announced that they've signed 28-year-old defenseman Brendan Bell. Bell spent last season in the Swiss Elite League, but prior to that played in 101 career games in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators, Phoenix Coyotes and Ottawa Senators.
The 6-2, 211-pound blue-liner will add some depth to the Connecticut Whale (AHL) but that's about it. Don't expect him to even come close to contending for a spot on the NHL squad, because he won't. All conspiracies end here.
Bell has recorded 7 goals and 28 assists, along with 51 penalty minutes in his NHL career.
