So last week I mentioned something about looking to bring more writers on board here at The Rangers Tribune just prior to going on vacation. Some of you have already jumped the gun and contacted me, which is fantastic, but I wanted to give a few more details and reveal expectations and what not before we take this process any further.
To be brief, I've covered three and a half Rangers seasons on this blog going solo all the way (with exception to adding Mike Spinner last season for NHL purposes) but am getting ready to begin college come September. For those of you who have been in my shoes in the past or maybe are going through the same steps now, college can be fairly time consuming and at the same time a very crucial time in my life. It would be near impossible to balance a college schedule and run this blog to the degree that I have the past three or so years. After the Rangers were eliminated from the postseason, I took a break from writing for a while and was faced with a tough decision; either shut the blog down completely or try to find a way to make this work.
Well, it would be pretty difficult to just throw away three and a half years of blogging as well as abandon the thousands of readers I picked up along the way, and me being a relatively creative guy, I thought out a gameplan to make this happen and continue the greatest Rangers blog to ever exist. There may be a better blog sometime down the road, but as far as straight up authentic opinion and thought-provoking writing go, this is the best you are going to find right here and right now.
But anyway, I'm looking for dedicated fans out there who have writing talent, a strong background as a hockey/Ranger fan and know, not think, they have the time to become a dedicated writer on The Rangers Tribune. Remember, this isn't some ordinary BS Rangers blog where we seek to be like the beat writers or the mainstream media or follow any sort of boring guidelines. Everything about this place is original and creative, so I am looking for writers with a similar mindset.
Now, if you are one of these people I just described and feel as if you are interested, please contact me at my email ([email protected]) simply letting me know that is the case. From there, I will return your message with further information including a brief writing assignment this way I can have a writing sample of yours to base my decision on. And I should also mention that I am hoping to add at least three more writers to the team so it's not like I am looking for just one special person here.
I have a schedule for this process to all unfold so that I have decided on a new team by September 1 assuming the NHL season begins as scheduled (unlikely but whatever), so I'm going to need to know who is interested within this week, and then will need your writing sample by the end of July/very beginning of August. And again, I will send you the writing assignment once I receive your email noting that you are interested.
I think this is a great step for the blog to take and will make the experience here even better than it already is. The variety of opinion and division of coverage will create a refreshing new environment here for next season, so I hope to hear from a lot of you and eventually work with some of you.
Again, my email is [email protected].
Talk to you soon!
