Dubinsky Re-Signs; 2 years/$3.7 Million

According to TSN, restricted free-agent Brandon Dubinsky has re-signed with the New York Rangers for two years, at $3.7 million. It took all the way up to two weeks before the beginning of the regular season, but the long awaited deal has finally been completed.

Glen Sather and the Ranger Brass increased their offer of $700,000 to meet Dubinsky's demands. Now that the deal has been completed, a lot has came out regarding the situation. This from Zipay:

"The 23-year-old center ends his eight-day holdout with a pact beleived to be worth about $2 million. Solves a big issue for the Blueshirts. GM Glen Sather told Dubinsky that he was to skate at the training centter and be ready for practice Monday.

Dubinsky originally was seeking $16 million for four years; the Rangers one-year qualifying offer was $522,500 this summer. In this dea, Dubinsky, who as a youngster, wore Rangers jerseys thanks to his dad, who lived on Long Island."

According to that, Dubinsky was seeking four million dollars per year, which is nothing short of ridiculous. Instead, Dubinsky will receive $1.7 million this year, and $2 million the next.

Dubinsky on the holdout/signing courtesy of Rangers Rants:

"I just kind of said it was something I wanted to get done, I was tired of waiting, I didn't want to push this thing further," Dubinsky said. "I didn't want the team to be at their wit's end and I didn't want to be at wit's end myself. Wednesday was when I said it's time to get it done, let's push for this thing to be done. Thankfully, we were able to accomplish that goal."

Everyone can (must) move on, and focus on Dubi being a key part to this team and its future. I know Glen Sather has, as he already ordered Brandon to report to the training facility to prepare for practice on Monday.
